At ten in the morning, two police officers entered his cell, giving Valiantsin Stefanovich three minutes to pack. As is common for a prisoner in Belarus, he didn’t possess many belongings. They placed a hood over his head and transferred him from a provincial prison to the capital, Minsk. There, he was provided with new sneakers and instructed to shave, ensuring he looked presentable for his impending release. Stefanovich recounted these events to the Belarusian exile broadcaster Belsat. On March 19, Stefanovich, an employee of the Belarusian human rights organization Viasna (Spring), was deported from the country to Lithuania.
