Cultural Manager Positions at Instituto Cervantes: Brasilia, Bordeaux, Paris, and São Paulo
The Instituto Cervantes has announced an open selection process to fill Cultural Manager positions at several of its international centers. These exciting opportunities are available in Brasilia (Brazil), Bordeaux (France), Paris (France), and São Paulo (Brazil). The selection process will take place at the Instituto Cervantes' central headquarters in Madrid, Spain.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be integral to the cultural programming of their assigned center. Their duties will include:
- Collaborating with center management to define specific cultural objectives and propose strategic interventions within their operational scope.
- Assisting center management in presenting the annual cultural activity program to the Culture Department.
- Organizing and executing the center's cultural activity program.
- Ensuring the center's cultural program aligns with the Culture Department's guidelines and that established procedures and deadlines for activity management are met, particularly for events co-organized with the central headquarters.
- Preparing and submitting reports on the center's cultural activities to the Culture Department and overseeing the proper functioning of the Cultuweb application.
- In conjunction with the Center Administrator or head of administration, preparing the proposed commercial budget for the cultural program and overseeing its execution.
- Supporting center management in seeking sponsorship opportunities.
- Fostering collaboration with Spanish and local cultural institutions and agents.
- Representing the center at cultural activities as directed by the manager.
- Undertaking other management and/or administrative tasks related to the cultural sector as assigned by center management.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: Spanish nationality is required. Nationals of an EU member state, or any state where free movement of workers applies under international treaties ratified by Spain, are also eligible. This also extends to spouses (not legally separated), descendants under 21, or dependent older relatives of Spanish nationals or EU citizens, regardless of their own nationality. Additionally, individuals legally residing in Spain who do not fall into the above categories may also apply.
- Age: Must be at least 16 years old and not exceed the compulsory retirement age.
- Education: Hold a university degree (Licenciatura or Grado). Foreign qualifications must be officially recognized or certified as equivalent by the competent Spanish authority.
- Functional Capacity: Possess the necessary functional capacity to perform the duties of the position.
- Disciplinary Record: Not have been dismissed from public service through disciplinary action, nor be disqualified from public employment by judicial resolution. For non-Spanish nationals, not be disqualified or subject to equivalent disciplinary sanctions in their home country that would prevent access to public employment.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in cultural project development and management, including the design, organization, and execution of cultural events.
- Language Proficiency: B2 level in either French or Portuguese (depending on the specific position) and B2 level in Spanish.

- In person at the Instituto Cervantes central headquarters in Madrid (C/ Alcalá, 49 – 28014 Madrid, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 14:00).
- At Spanish Embassies or Consulates abroad.
- By registered and stamped postal mail to the central headquarters (C/ Alcalá, 49, 28014 Madrid), ensuring it is postmarked within the application period.
- Following the procedures outlined in Article 16 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
- If not submitting through the central headquarters, a signed and registered application must also be sent in advance via email to: seleccion@cervantes.es.
The application (Annex I) must be accompanied by:
- A copy of an identity document or passport (for non-Spanish nationals).
- Curriculum Vitae in Spanish.
- Copies of documents verifying the stated requirements and any merits the candidate wishes to be considered during the merit assessment phase.
- Annex IV, if the candidate wishes to be included in the list for temporary contracts should they pass the selection process but not secure one of the advertised permanent positions.
Applicants are responsible for the veracity of the documents submitted, as per Article 28.7 of Law 39/2015. Authentic copies may be requested if deemed necessary due to document relevance or doubts about copy quality.

Selection Procedure
The selection process will follow an "opposition-merit" system (oposición-concurso). This includes an evaluation of candidates' merits and a personal interview.
Contract Terms
Successful candidates will be offered a permanent, indefinite employment contract, subject to a six-month probationary period.
