The Void Behind Everything: An Approach to Elena Asins' Work
The Museo Picasso Málaga offered an approach to the work of Elena Asins, a fundamental artist whose practice was characterized by an open and plural vision. Asins advocated for the interaction of plastic arts with diverse cultural categories, challenging formal boundaries between different fields of knowledge and boldly experimenting with materials.
The exhibition and dialogue around her work were structured under the title "El vacío detrás de todo" (The Void Behind Everything), a phrase taken from one of her poems. This key concept illuminates two central pillars in her production: her refusal to accept any limits in the formal and conceptual, and her profound artistic inquiry into the meaning of life.
To delve deeper into these themes, participants were invited to a shared reading of texts by influential thinkers Hannah Arendt, Simone Weil, and María Zambrano. The idea was to link these philosophical perspectives with Sophocles' Greek tragedy *Antigone*, seeking a shared reflection on the meaning of existence and the exploration of limits.
This initiative materialized in a workshop, held on March 26 and 27, 2026, at the Museo Picasso Málaga's education classroom, where participants explored these ideas through readings, discussions, and culminated with a writing exercise, solidifying the purpose of analyzing "the void we inhabit."
