Light Sprouts from the Rocks
How do poetry and matter intertwine in a creative dance? The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) invites you to participate in a fascinating collective creation workshop, led by artist Alba Mayol. This unique experience will allow you to explore the profound interconnections between poetic language and the material world, taking the evocative texts of the acclaimed writer Mercè Rodoreda as a starting point.
During the workshop, selected fragments from Rodoreda, as well as from other rich literary traditions, will be shared. This process will open up a space for authentic metamorphosis, where poetry will transform into tangible matter and, in turn, matter will become a new form of expressive language.
Concepts such as the red dust of Maraldina, the mystical Purple Mountains, the delicacy of wisterias and the robustness of heather, and the duality between darkness and beauty, will serve as inspiration. These elements will guide a deeply sensory and poetic work, designed to foster a "collective breathing" among participants. You will experiment with a diversity of materials, including fabrics, clay, plant and mineral elements, fluids, and scents. This multidisciplinary approach will facilitate a creative and introspective process that seeks to connect word, body, and matter, forging bonds within a plural community of shared intimacies.
