Publication Coordinator at Artium Museoa
Reporting directly to the Artium Museoa Management, the Publication Coordinator will be responsible for driving, coordinating, and developing the museum's editorial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the production and dissemination of the museum's publications, thereby enhancing its research profile and public visibility through rigorous, innovative, and high-quality editorial projects.
The Coordinator will collaborate closely with various museum departments relevant to their area, as well as with authors, artists, researchers, and other professionals involved in the museum's activities. Their work will be instrumental in advancing, consolidating, and promoting the center's publishing endeavors.
Furthermore, responsibilities will include managing production rights, fostering relationships with co-publishers and distributors, and overseeing image rights. The coordinator will also be required to propose and manage the budget necessary for the museum's editorial activities.
Requirements
The ideal candidate must possess a blend of expertise in the publishing sector, knowledge of contemporary art, and project management experience. They should demonstrate a strong ability to engage in the research and production processes integral to the museum's operations. Significant experience in contemporary art publishing and the capacity to coordinate complex editorial projects within institutional settings are essential. Finally, strong writing and text revision skills in contemporary art and thought are required.
Specifically required:
- Bachelor's degree (Grado or Licenciatura) in Art History, Humanities, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of demonstrable experience in coordinating and producing publications, preferably within museums, art centers, publishing houses, or cultural institutions.
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary art and its theoretical and critical contexts.
- Proven ability to write and edit texts within the field of contemporary art.
- Comprehensive understanding of the complete editorial process: editing, design, production, and printing.
- Strong teamwork and budget management skills.
- Proficiency in the official languages of the Basque Country (Euskadi), ensuring effective communication skills. If not accredited, willingness to learn these languages within a specified timeframe will be required.
- English language proficiency, C1 level or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in editorial projects related to research or academic publications, and/or participation in co-publishing ventures or inter-institutional editorial collaborations.
- Knowledge of other languages.
