The doorbell at the former chancellor’s residence was out of order. A handwritten note with two blue arrows instructed visitors to simultaneously press the doorbells for Gerhard Schröder’s office and his apartment on the first floor. Following these instructions, the secretary opened the door.
In the entrance area, a caricature greeted visitors. It depicted Gerhard Schröder with his characteristic smile and a glass of champagne, above him a speech bubble stating: “80 is the new 50, everything else is irrelevant, basta.”
