Germany is tasked with reducing its carbon dioxide emissions by 25 million tons to meet its ambitious 2030 climate targets.
To contextualize this figure, it’s roughly equivalent to the total CO2 output of Slovenia over a two-year period,
or slightly less than the annual emissions from all air travel originating within Germany.

This substantial deficit must be addressed, according to a “projection report” from the previous year,
to ensure the next federal government can successfully achieve the 2030 climate goal: a 65% reduction
in climate-damaging emissions compared to 1990 levels. However, if Carsten Schneider’s statements are to be believed,
this significant gap is already considered as good as closed.
