The recent political discourse highlighted the imperative for greater honesty and consistency in international relations. When nations like the USA and Israel undertake actions against Iran that appear to violate international law, it is argued that for the sake of credibility, such actions should be unequivocally labeled as breaches of international law, mirroring the condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Similarly, concerns have been raised regarding the integrity of the “firewall” designed to prevent the rise of right-wing extremism in Brussels; many now suggest this protective barrier has been compromised. Despite persistent calls for such candor, achieving this level of political honesty often proves to be an uphill battle.
