The Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno Foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary by reviving the ‘Pianos on the Street’ initiative, which marks a decade of bringing music closer to public spaces in Córdoba, Los Pedroches, and Guadiato. This annual event aims to make music accessible to everyone by placing grand pianos in easily reachable public areas.
This year’s ‘Pianos on the Street’ will kick off on April 8, from 10:00 to 19:00. Pianos will be installed in Hinojosa del Duque (Cathedral Square), Dos Torres (Villa Square), Pedroche (7 Villas Square), and Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Santa Bárbara Square). In these locations, residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to listen to live music or, if they wish, play their own pieces.
On April 9, the musical installations will move to Pozoblanco (Santa Catalina Square and Marcos Redondo Promenade) and Villanueva de Córdoba (Spain Square), maintaining the same 10:00 to 19:00 schedule. Additionally, that evening at 20:00, El Silo Theater in Pozoblanco will host a free piano concert. The performance will feature Curtis Phil Hsu, a young prodigy and winner of the 70th María Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona.
Finally, on April 10, the initiative will culminate in Córdoba city. Several pianos will be placed at central urban locations, including the Patio de los Naranjos, Plaza de las Tendillas, Gran Capitán Boulevard, and Calle Cruz Conde. Passersby are invited to enjoy the music and even try playing themselves. The day will conclude at 20:00 in Plaza de las Tendillas with a special performance by pianist Alberto de Paz, bringing these musical festivities to a grand close.
With the collaboration of the María Canals Competition Association of Barcelona and the Marcos Redondo Professional Music Conservatory of Pozoblanco, all pianos will be available for use by professional musicians, students, and amateurs. Even those who wish to learn on the spot are encouraged to engage with the instruments.
