La 39ª edición de TEFAF Maastricht, la feria europea de Bellas Artes más prestigiosa, se celebra hasta el 19 de marzo, reuniendo a 278 galerías de todo el mundo. El evento exhibe una impresionante colección de piezas arqueológicas, clásicas y contemporáneas.
Entre las obras maestras expuestas, se encuentran ejemplos representativos del simbolismo, impresionismo y expresionismo, con piezas de Odilon Redon, Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Max Pechstein, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner y Paul Gauguin. La feria también presenta obras redescubiertas de Jacob Jordaens y Giuseppe Bonito, así como dibujos de Bartolomeo Bandinelli y Dora Maar. En pintura contemporánea y moderna, el enfoque en la abstracción y la espiritualidad se manifiesta a través de autores como Arnulf Rainer, Léon Spilliaert, Emily Kam Kngwarray y Heisch. La fotografía está representada por figuras como Robert Mapplethorpe, Sohei Nishino y el dúo Anna y Bernhard Blume, explorando temas como el cuerpo, la naturaleza, la memoria y el paisaje urbano.
El recorrido por la escultura abarca desde la Antigüedad hasta el siglo XX, presentando piezas funerarias greco-latinas y egipcias, como la estela ático-griega de Medeia o la estatuilla de Ptah-Sokar-Osiris. El Renacimiento y la Edad Moderna incluyen delicados relieves en cera y mármol, como el retrato memento mori de Matthäus Carl. La modernidad escultórica se hace presente con obras de Barbara Hepworth y Eduardo Chillida, que exploran el espacio y el vacío, así como refinados bustos y esculturas en bronce, como el retrato de Suzanne Lion de Bourdelle, que fusionan tradición artesanal y modernidad. En el ámbito conceptual, destacan las vitrinas Necesidad VI de Berlinde De Bruyckere, una instalación íntima que reflexiona sobre la vida, la muerte y la fragilidad corporal.
Varias galerías españolas, incluyendo Bernat, Caylus, Colnaghi, DELAMANO Old Masters, Deborah Elvira, Mayoral, Montagut y Artur Ramon Art, presentan obras de destacados artistas como Alonso Cano, Jacinto Meléndez, Francisco de Goya, Diego Velázquez, Sorolla, Salvador Dalí y Pablo Picasso. Un punto culminante es el Salvator Mundi del taller de Leonardo da Vinci, exhibido por la galería inglesa Agnews.
TEFAF también anunció que la Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister de Dresde será la beneficiaria del Fondo de Restauración de Museos TEFAF (TMRF) de este año. La financiación permitirá la restauración de La caza del jabalí (1616-1618), una monumental pintura de Rubens. Esta obra, con una rica historia que incluye su paso por la colección del duque de Buckingham y la colección imperial de Praga antes de llegar a Dresde, ha sobrevivido a un traslado a la URSS durante la II Guerra Mundial. La restauración abordará las capas de barniz amarillento que oscurecen la paleta original de Rubens y explorará una ampliación de la composición, investigando posibles contribuciones de artistas de su círculo como Jan Wildens, Lucas van Uden o Anthony van Dyck.

TEFAF Maastricht 2026: A Confluence of Artistry and Masterpieces (English Translation)
The 39th edition of TEFAF Maastricht, Europe’s most prestigious fine art fair, runs until March 19, bringing together 278 galleries from around the world. The event showcases an impressive collection of archaeological, classical, and contemporary pieces.
Among the masterpieces on display are representative examples of Symbolism, Impressionism, and Expressionism, with works by Odilon Redon, Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Max Pechstein, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and Paul Gauguin. The fair also features rediscovered works by Jacob Jordaens and Giuseppe Bonito, as well as drawings by Bartolomeo Bandinelli and Dora Maar. In contemporary and modern painting, a focus on abstraction and spirituality is evident through artists like Arnulf Rainer, Léon Spilliaert, Emily Kam Kngwarray, and Heisch. Photography is represented by figures such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Sohei Nishino, and the duo Anna and Bernhard Blume, exploring themes including the body, nature, memory, and the urban landscape.
The sculptural journey spans from Antiquity to the 20th century, presenting Greco-Roman and Egyptian funerary pieces, such as the Attic-Greek stele of Medeia or the statuette of Ptah-Sokar-Osiris. The Renaissance and Early Modern periods include delicate wax and marble reliefs, like Matthäus Carl’s memento mori portrait. Sculptural modernity is showcased with works by Barbara Hepworth and Eduardo Chillida, exploring space and void, as well as refined bronze busts and sculptures, such as Bourdelle’s portrait of Suzanne Lion, which merge artisanal tradition with modernity. In the conceptual realm, Berlinde De Bruyckere’s Necessity VI showcases an intimate installation reflecting on life, death, and bodily fragility.
Several Spanish galleries, including Bernat, Caylus, Colnaghi, DELAMANO Old Masters, Deborah Elvira, Mayoral, Montagut, and Artur Ramon Art, present works by renowned artists such as Alonso Cano, Jacinto Meléndez, Francisco de Goya, Diego Velázquez, Sorolla, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso. A highlight is the Salvator Mundi from Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop, exhibited by the English gallery Agnews.
TEFAF also announced that the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden will be the recipient of this year’s TEFAF Museum Restoration Fund (TMRF). The funding will support the restoration of The Boar Hunt (1616-1618), a monumental painting by Rubens. This artwork, with a rich history including its passage through the Duke of Buckingham’s collection and the imperial collection of Prague before arriving in Dresden, survived being transported to the USSR during World War II. The restoration will address layers of yellowed varnish obscuring Rubens’ original palette and will investigate an enlargement of the composition, exploring possible contributions from artists in his circle such as Jan Wildens, Lucas van Uden, or Anthony van Dyck.
Additionally, TEFAF has collaborated with the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Centraal Museum Utrecht, the Prince Claus Fund, and the King Baudouin Foundation, all of which present thematic exhibitions with loans from their collections.
